Class Descriptions

Creative Dance
Ages 3-7

Creative Dance classes are concept-based with a focus on natural movement as well as an introduction to the principals of modern dance technique. Imagery, music, props, and literary forms are used to explore the joy of dance. It is a wonderful opportunity for young girls and boys to develop motor skills, technique, musicality, body awareness, concentration and focus, to express feelings and ideas, and most of all have fun with dance!

Creative Modern
Ages 7-11

Students will continue exploring creative dance concepts, improvisation and composition skills. There is an emphasis on beginning center floor technique exercises and movement phrases that expand students' core strength, agility and performance skills. This allows the dancers to move through space with technique and the freedom of their own natural abilities.

Modern Technique/Composition
Ages 12-16

Students will continue to explore the elements of  dance, improvisation and composition skills. There is a greater emphasis on intermediate/advanced center floor technique exercises and longer movement phrases that expand students' core strength, agility and performance skills. This allows the dancers to move through space with technique and the freedom of their own natural abilities.

Creative Ballet/Technique
Ages 7-16

Students will explore beginning ballet technique with barre, center floor and across the floor exercises.  Classical ballet emphasizes strength, flexibility, coordination, alignment, muscle toning, and musicality. Classes are offered in a relaxed and supportive learning environment, nurturing a personal sense of well being. Ballet attire and shoes required.
