"Dancing Around the World"

Students will learn social and cultural dances from around the world. We will create "passports" and “travel” to the Congo (Mayi), Israel (Hora), Greece (Syrtos), Italy (Tarantella), Germany (d’Hammerschmiedsgselln,), USA (Virginia Reel, Heal Toe Polka, Hawaii-Hukilau) and more! No dance experience needed, this camp is appropriate for all levels.

"A Century of Dancing"

Dance Through the Decades

Students will learn social dances, as well as the historical background, from the 1900's through 2008 including the Waltz (1900’s), Charleston (1920’s), Swing & Lindy Hop (1930’s & 40’s), Gitter Bug (1950’s), dances as seen in “Hair Spray” (1960's), Line Dances and Disco (1970's), up to the present day! No dance experience needed, this camp is appropriate for all levels.

“Creative Dance & Beginning Tap”

Students will participate in ½ hour of Creative dance/composition and ½ hour of beginning tap dancing. Students should wear bare feet for creative movement and wear tap shoes for our tap class. There is no need to buy tap shoes for this camp, I have lots, and you may borrow a pair!

August 4-August 8, 2008
